Understanding the Solicitation

Understanding the information contained in a solicitation is key when doing business with the government. Even in a subcontractor capacity, it is a good idea to know what is required as some of these responsibilities involve subcontractors as well as the prime. From a foundry’s perspective, most of the solicitations for spare and repair parts fall within what is called simplified acquisitions (under $100,000) and the format used by DLA is a simplified contract format. The terms and conditions that accompany these solicitations is the DLA Master Solicitation Document. The other format often used is Standard Form 18. The tutorial on this page breaks down these kinds of solicitations to describe the different parts.
